E-Commerce Template System
Context
Without an existing template system, the photo team struggled to create consistent hero images across a wide range of products.
This raised a few design challenges: How do I accommodate unconventional product shapes? How do I approach sensitive topics like maternity underwear in an elegant way? And how do I seamlessly combine lifestyle and product photography within a single image? These challenges led me to creating a few templates that can scale across categories.
Isolating images allowed for more dynamic compositions, and I paired them with bold rounded shapes that helped anchor the images.
Grids provided structure and consistency, helping each element occupy a similar visual space while creating a more cohesive layout.
I used circular containers to create a more dynamic and playful visual rhythm throughout the layouts. For maternity underwear, a softer palette inspired by skin tones helped the imagery feel more natural and approachable.
